“La Botanica Natural Medicine” opens in Sellwood

Sellwood’s award winning “Share-It Square” now has medical resources available, in the form of the newly-opened “La Botanica Natural Medicine and Hypnotherapy”, 8512 S.E. 9th Avenue.

Dr. Adriana Azcarate-Ferbel and Dr. Pedro Ferbel-Azcarate have teamed with a naturopathic physician, Dr. Elissa Mendenhall, to make available a wide array of alternative and natural healing services for all ages at the new clinic.

The newly remodeled clinic & landscaped grounds, as well as the adjoining cob living area, were featured in Portland’s September 15th “Build It Green Tour of Homes.” The attractive new clinic presents a combination of comfort and professionalism, and is landscaped with an extensive natural herb and vegetable garden out in front.

“We use these plants to educate our patients on natural remedies that they can grow for themselves,” says Adriana. Since both she and Dr. Mendenhall are young mothers, they support each other’s maternal and professional concerns.

Dr. Azcarate-Ferbel earned her degree in Naturopathic Medicine from the National College of Natural Medicine in 2004. Dr. Mendenhall received hers from the same place in 2005. This is the oldest Naturopathic College in the United States.

Adriana offers treatments and laboratory tests, along with such services as alternative treatments for chronic conditions, annual exams and treatment for common ailments, nutrition and fertility concerns, and natural alternatives for insomnia, anxiety, and depression.

“Health is the place where we accept who we are and trust in our potential for transformation,” she says. “We believe that our body has the ability to heal, and we trust in the powerful medicine Mother Nature has to offer.” Adriana aims to specialize in the field of postpartum depression, she explains, “Because there are so few local alternative specialists in that field.”

Dr. Mendenhall’s services include naturopathic & transformational medicine, addiction and mental health services, classical homeopathy, herbal and nutritional supplements, and biofeedback.
