Even though it doesn’t take place until Saturday, August 14th, volunteers are already at work planning the 2010 “Woodstock Family Picnic”.
The event, that fills the park with family-friendly entertainment, prizes and surprises, is a project of the Woodstock Neighborhood Association, which points out that it “doesn’t happen by itself”.
“We work hard at having fun,” said the Co-Chair of the WNA and the event’s Chair this year, Tom Vice. “It requires a number of people — volunteers — to make this picnic the event neighbors have come to enjoy.”
This year, neighbors can again expect live bands, kids’ activities, local prepared foods, and exhibits put on by community and nonprofit organizations and by local businesses. “We’ll be accepting packaged food donations for the Oregon Food Bank again,” Vice added.
At a June 6th organizational meeting at Papaccino’s Coffee Shop on Woodstock Boulvard, Vice observed that the group could use the help of a few more volunteers on their planning committee during the month of July.
On the day of the event, we’ll need about 30 volunteers to help make this event successful — and most of all, fun.”
