The family of a 17-year-old Cleveland High School student is asking the community for help in finding their daughter, who has been missing since January 18th.

Heather Greig, a star athlete at Cleveland, who lives with her parents on S.E. 68th Avenue, disappeared after going to her first-period class and hasn’t been seen since, as far as her family knows.

Portland Police have interviewed Heather’s family members and boyfriend, but have not launched a full investigation because they don’t believe she is in any danger, and have no reason to believe foul play is involved. They say there are hundreds of runaways each year.

That’s what makes it so frustrating for Heather’s family, who say she has no history of running away, gave no indication that she was unhappy or wanted to run away, and has no money, cell phone, or car.

“We haven’t heard a word from her,” said her mother, Shannon Greig. “We filed the missing person’s report that first night. ... I just want her picture out there. Somebody’s got to have seen her.”
