Portland fire investigators are looking for evidence of arson in a fire that damaged the Dougy Center in Southeast Portland.
The facility was housed in a historic mansion on Southeast 52nd near Foster Road. Firefighters arriving at 10:30 p.m. Sunday night found both floors in flames.
Lt. Damon Simmons with Portland Fire and Rescue said firefighters had to call in an extra engine company.
“It was a fairly long knockdown for us, due to the fact the fire was on two floors,” Simmons told KPAM 860 radio.
Dougy Center administrators are calling the building a total loss. They are looking for another site to continue their work of counseling children until the center can be rebuilt.
